Federal and state funding programs provide local groups with millions of dollars for "abstinence-only-until-marriage" education programs that are hailed by some as the best way to keep teenagers from having sex and to stop teen pregnancy. But increasingly, state administrators are balking at accepting these dollars, concerned that this is a one-sided approach to sexuality education that fails to give teens medically appropriate information about birth control, prevention of STDs and the option of abortion. Is there state and federal funding for education about using birth control and the prevention of STD's?

Asking kids to abstain is like asking your politician not to accept benefits or money from lobbyists.  We all hope that everyone will do the right thing...but the reality sex in our nature...and lobbyist supply the lifeblood to our politicians.

Keeping sex education out of schools makes as much sense as keeping math out of the classrooms.
