Overweight and Out of Work: Discrimination and Obesity

i know that obisity can be a geneetic thing but sometimes it is a lazy thing and over eating thing too. people need to eat right and exercise to stay a little fit, and most jobs require people to be fit, so over-weight peple shouldnt complain about it. you wouldnt hire a male doctor for a female patient.... so you cant hire a big person for a little person job.

As a slighty over weight person, I would still agree with blakey17, he makes a good point that over weight is a cause of laziness, and now people are planning to reward them for their laziness. This is unfair to the hard working inshape people that work to keep their bodies in good shape, if anyone should get the benefit it is them.

As a bigger person myself, I completely agree with Oiler_69! People choose their own fate and their own path. Life isn't a walk in the park; it's a box of chocolates, and if you eat to many you will have to deal with the reprecutions.

RE: Overweight and Out of Work: Discrimination and Obesity

being overweight makes alot of things more difficult including simple things at the job. Its not discrimination or anything if employers want to hire someone more fit because that would mean they are hiring someone that can do the job the best not discriminating against you just because they are overweight.

RE: Overweight and Out of Work: Discrimination and Obesity

The type of job you get, and the pay you receive should be dependant on your qualifications and experience in that area, not on how much you weigh. I do think that if you want to be a healthy and responsible person though, you should be keeping your body in shape. Overweight people do get judged by society, its a common fact. So if not for your body, then you should get healthy for your job.

RE: Overweight and Out of Work: Discrimination and Obesity

I believe that being overweight has nothing to do with who you are. Weight shouldn't be a factor in getting a job. Although overweight people arwe discriminated against in today's society, it doesn't make it right. Sometimes it's not always there fault, sometimes it's a result of bad parenting.

RE: Overweight and Out of Work: Discrimination and Obesity

I would have to say that overweight people and the obese should have a harder time getting a job. But, when someone hits a certain age(40), you automatically start to gain weight. So I believe people who are obese, that are young, should be discriminated against for jobs.
