    RE: Drug Testing

    To your guest Doc.

I want you to find me a free attorney that could represent me against career/atheletic rejection due to false postitive, because I like Poppy bagels.

Current drug testing methods are haphazardous and worthless.

    RE: Drug Testing

I wanted to tell you of my very unfair experience with drug testing. I was at work and was leaning down to look at an electrical outlet with an employee. This employee touched the outlet that was partially exposed. The chain on her neck touched the outlet and blew it off her neck. The employer made both of us take a drug test as it was an accident. I did not cause the accident, I was only touching the woman that caused the accident. I was positive for marijuana, she was not. I got fired, but not until weeks later after management wrote me up for another issue. The company knew the accident was not my fault but found my private life to be one where I smoked pot so they fired me the first chance they got. The chance they had was that I stayed out too long for lunch one day after this incident and got wrote up. After the write up my manager told me she thought I acted too calmly about the write up so I must be on drugs. Since refusal is an automatic firing I had to go take the test. The woman that caused the accident was NOT FIRED. I was NOT high at work, the accident was not my fault. This was a horrible case of invasion of privacy and abuse of power over a person. I get sick when I think about it. I still smoke pot from time to time. I am a responsible person with many normal activities in my life.

    RE: Drug Testing

Margot Adler gave the FALSE impression that it is easy to beat a UA drug test. It's not. The many substances and methods purported and sold for this purpose simply don't work reliably. In fact, they usually don't work at all and may cause illness.

    RE: Drug Testing

I dont belive that people should be drug tested. If its not effecting your proformance at either your work or school, I dont see why it would be anyones business. I think its scary how much government is playing a role in peoples lives. We have a right to privacy and i think we should enforce it.

    RE: Drug Testing

I think that drug testing is a good thing. If someone really enjoys where they are working or the sport they are playing, then why would they allow drugs to get into their way?

too many people are letting drugs get into the way of their life, so if there is something that they really want to do, then they should quit doing drugs because if they dont, the things they love the most can be ripped away from them just like that!

    RE: Drug Testing

i think that you should only be able to test people for drugs if you have proof that it is harming their performance on the field or at work. What you choose to do in your personal life and what you do in a work or athletic atmosphere are two different things. I do not believe that you should be able to get away with doing drugs while working though, the government needs proof firs though before they break into your personal life.

    RE: Drug Testing

i don't think drug testing should be allowed in school unless you are involved in sports and it is a test for steroids. Its none of the schools business whether ir not their students are doing drugs unless they are doing them at school. if someone is going to get into trouble for using drugs it should be by their parents or the police. Its the schools job to teach us academic things not to punish us for making a bad choice out of school.

    RE: Drug Testing

I believe that drug testing should be aloud.Doing it by yourself with yourself is one thing but bringing it into the public is another. If you know you'll get in trouble if your caught in public but still willingly then that's your fault, do it on your own time, your better yet not at all

    RE: Drug Testing

I believe that drug testing should be allowed at anytime because there should be no reason not to take it because it's something wrong to be doing in the first place. Some say they should have a reason for chosing you to take the drug test, but refusing to take the drug test is a good reason, beacuse you are being suspicion. The government needs to find people who are doing illegal things, it's their duty, and i think that the people should try their best to help them.

    RE: Drug Testing

I feel that drug testing should be left up to the employer. It should also be something that doesn’t catch the person in the act. It should just be something the employer does to discourage drug use while the person is an employee. If the employer feels that they want to drug test their employees then they should be able to, just that they need to tell the employee before hand.

    Free_drinks1:

I totally agree with you on the part of the employer being able to test their employees with a notice before hand. However, most people's employers don't test them at all. The only acceptions I've noticed were emergancy forces. Other than that, I believe that employers should test their employees before hiring them. I say that because an employer should not be in fear of someone they had just hired being stoned on the job.

    RE: Drug Testing

i think that drug testing should be madotary around the US. people should not be able to get a job doing whatever they want while being stoned. i also think that employers should have they employees that want to work for them and the ones that do work for them drug tested. i think this because junkies should not be able to do any job that they want

    Re: RE: Drug Testing

Drug testing at work is important. Even if the person isn't "high" at work the drugs are still going to affect their performance on the job. Perhaps the employee is a few minutes late for work or leaves early. Even if the person is always on time and leaves on time (or perhaps even leaves late) the drugs are still going to affect the person's job performance to some degree. Working in an environment with clean and sober employees boosts morale and gives the customer reassurance that the employees are good people. Even if drug testing is done solely for PR it is still a good thing to have for work.
